Two all-wheel drive versions of this four-door electric vehicle are available at the start of sales: Taycan Turbo TURBO TURBO AND TAYCAN TURBO S. Basic version of Taycan 4S (also with a full drive) will appear in the lighters in the late spring.
Despite the fact that Taycan is a four-door car similar to Panamera, in fact, it is very small from Panamera, except for several bolt components of the suspension in the corners. Otherwise, it is built on a completely new electric vehicle platform. Two batteries are available: 79.2 kWh (Porsche calls it Performance Battery), which is standard in Taycan 4S, or a more powerful battery of 93.4 kWh (Performance Battery Plus), it is optional for 4S, standard for Turbo and Turbo S. Powerful electrodes with permanent magnets lead to iron horses, while Turbo and Turbo S receive a larger engine than 4s. This layout gives Taycan the lowest center of gravity among all Porsche cars.
Despite the fact that some options are called Turbo, all models do not have a real turbocharger, because it is impossible to turbine an electric motor.
Both models are supplied as standard with electronically controlled by shock absorbers and three-chamber pneumatic suspension, which is adjusted both in height and hardness, with an adjustment function for an additional gap and low mode for better aerodynamics. The size of the wheels differ from the model to the model. Porsche 4S is standardly equipped with 19-inch wheels, and Turbo and Turbo S - 20-inch and 21-inch rims, respectively. Summer and all-season versions are available in all sizes.
In general, the difference between the two TURBO models is insignificant. An additional clutch with a thicker 21-inch rubber Turbo S is definitely helps when starting or passing turns, but the 20-inch TURBO installation does not give anything substantial and rides a little better in the real world. Both are attracted from the point of view of the helm. Thanks to smaller wheels (which provide greater compatibility) in 4S, Taycan deals with poor-quality coats with aplomb. Once again, Porsche proves that sports experience does not have to go to the detriment of comfort.
Rear axle steering gives obvious advantages in everyday life, because it allows Taycan to perform unexpectedly cool reversals, but it provides stable stability when moving in a straight line. PDCC is very effective, because it regulates transverse stability stabilizers to reduce body roll almost to zero in high-speed turns, and allows strips to weaken to combat heads on uneven roads. But the need for this more depends on where and how you are going.
Most of the stops that you will do in everyday ride will be caused by internal magnetism drive engines when the recovery braking system temporarily reconfigures them as generators. Taycan's regenerative brake ability is extremely high. Technically gaskets can be stopped for 20 years, but it is better to replace them in six years, because corrosion will be out of wear.
You will still use the brake pedal when you want to slow down the movement, and the computer will solve whether to use recuperative braking or traditional friction brakes. In other cars, this can lead to a shaky sense of pedals, but Porsche clearly spent time to make him feel right. Taycan pedal feels solid and easily modulated, with the same reliable and confident brake control, which you will find in any Porsche.
Taycan salon at the same time modern, and familiar, with refined assembly quality and luxurious materials that we have not seen in other premium electric vehicles. The basic appearance is not much different from the newest 911 with clear horizontal lines on the dashboard, and a clearly defined central console. The similarity quickly ends when you notice that there are no real tools, and the number of screens can reach up to five.
As for seats, they are comfortable and supporting on long segments. And although they are easily adjustable, the basic form is good enough so that we do not have to mess around. Easy review and forward, and to the parties, but the rear view is slightly, because the rear shelf is high.
The back seat is quite spacious for high passengers, when it comes to the ceiling due to the soaring glass roof, which extends from the windshield to the rear window and extends from the door to the door. The 10.9-inch screen serves as a central information and entertainment interface. Its logic menu and graphics on the map are clear, and the operating delay is very small. In a pair with a portrait-oriented 8.4-inch screen, in which climate control and touch panel are located, helping to view lists. The only thing that is missing is the volume knobs.
On the steering wheel there is a roller regulator, but the central control has a slightly marked zone plus-minus on the touch panel. The passenger has an additional second screen right in front of him, and it can make changes to the route and play in the DJ, while the driver focuses on current affairs.
An optional surround sound system Burmester sounds great. Both systems can call your Apple Music account without a phone in a car, and Apple CarPlay is supported via a USB cable. Android Auto is not available. You will find familiar and intuitive controls for mirrors, steering wheels, cruise control, janitor and other similar things that are usually performed using switches and stems. A gear shift lever is a powerful switching on the dashboard, pleasant to the touch.
Porsche is proud of its electronic control holes. The only way to adjust the direction of the air flow is the level of the menu level located on the touch screen, where you can choose diffuse, focused and individual. The selection of the latter opens the screen where you can drag your finger to adjust the focus points to your liking.
This parameter is perfectly suitable if you are the type that it will install and forget, but it is not very suitable for those who regularly adjust its holes. Rear passengers receive their own 5,9-inch touchpad if you buy an optional four-zone climate control system.
